At Unique Varanasi, we value your time, travel plans, and trust. Our Cancellation & Refund Policy is designed to be clear, fair, and traveler‑friendly—especially for foreign guests who may face sudden changes in schedule.

1. General Cancellation Policy

We understand that unexpected situations may arise. Below is our standard cancellation structure:

Standard Cancellation Rules
  • More than 48 hours before the tour: 100% refund, no questions asked.

  • 24–48 hours before the tour: 70% refund.

  • 12–24 hours before the tour: 50% refund.

  • Less than 12 hours before the tour: No refund (as arrangements & resources are already allocated).

  • No‑show: No refund.

Why certain tours require advance payment?

Many services—especially sunrise boat rides, private boats, photography tours, special rituals, and customized experiences—require early bookings and advance preparation. Boats, guides, permissions, transport, and vendor partnerships are secured in advance. Thus, a part of the amount becomes non‑refundable close to the tour time.


2. Weather, River Conditions & Safety-Related Cancellations

Varanasi’s river conditions and weather can sometimes affect tours. Your safety is our priority.

If Unique Varanasi cancels a tour due to:
  • Rising Ganga water levels

  • Heavy rain or storm

  • Government restrictions on boat movement

  • Safety concerns announced by authorities

You will receive:

  • Full refund, or

  • Free rescheduling to a suitable time

The choice is yours.


3. Medical or Personal Emergencies

We try to support genuine cases such as:

  • Sudden illness

  • Travel delays

  • Flight/train cancellations

  • Personal emergencies

In such situations, we may:

  • Offer partial or full refund, OR

  • Provide credit vouchers valid for your next trip to Varanasi

We handle such cases with empathy and flexibility.


4. Group Bookings, Festival Days & Peak-Season Cancellations

During high-demand periods like:

  • Dev Deepawali

  • Makar Sankranti

  • New Year

  • Festival weekends

  • Full-season months (Oct–March)

Bookings require higher deposits to secure boats, guides, and arrangements.

For such bookings:
  • Deposits may be non-refundable.

  • Cancellations within 48 hours may not be eligible for refunds.

We will still try to accommodate date changes when possible.

6. Refund Processing Time

Refunds are issued using the same payment method you used during booking.

Refund Timeline:
  • Domestic payments: 1–5 business days

  • International payments (PayPal, Cards): 3–10 business days

We will notify you once the refund has been processed.


7. Non-Refundable Situations

Refunds are not applicable if:

  • You arrive late and the tour has already started

  • You miss the sunrise timing (boat schedules cannot be shifted)

  • You don’t follow instructions that affect the tour experience

  • There is misbehavior with guides or service providers

  • The tour is shortened due to your personal delay


8. Rescheduling Policy (Free Changes)

We allow one free rescheduling if:

  • You notify us at least 12 hours before the tour

  • The new time slot is available

Additional last‑minute rescheduling may involve extra charges depending on the type of tour
